چکیده
EBER: Epstein-Barr encoded RNA EBV: Epstein-Barr virus LPD: lymphoproliferative disorder MTX: methotrexate RA: rheumatoid arthritis INTRODUCTION For more than 30 years, methotrexate (MTX) has been a mainstay in the treatment of various inflammatory disorders including rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and psoriasis. Off-label use of MTX has expanded in recent years, as it is found to be effective in treating dermatoses such as atopic dermatitis, bullous pemphigoid, pemphigus vulgaris, and mycosis fungoides. Because of its common use in dermatology, the oncogenic potential of MTX is of special significance for the clinician interested in prescribing this drug. Although MTX has been implicated in squamous cell carcinoma in patients treated for psoriasis, its potential to induce lymphoma is controversial, as studies find either an increase or no clinically significant increase in malignant potential with chronic MTX use. Herein, we report a case of a CD30 T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder (LPD) of the lip and oral cavity in a patient taking MTX for RA.

Eosinophilic ulcer of the oral mucosa (EUOM) is a very rare, benign, self-limiting ulcerative lesion of the oral cavity of unknown pathogenesis, and belongs to the same spectrum of CD30(+) T-cell lymphoproliferative disease (LPD) of the oral mucosa. The etiology and pathogenesis of the disease are unknown. We report two cases in children who were initially diagnosed with EUOM and CD30(+) T-cell...

Methotrexate-associated lymphoproliferative disorders are a heterogeneous group of lymphoid proliferations or lymphomas that develop in patients with autoimmune diseases treated using methotrexate. These lymphoproliferative disorders are often associated with Epstein-Barr virus infection and occasionally regress after the withdrawal of methotrexate therapy. The lymphoproliferative disorder in t...

Methotrexate (MTX) is a commonly used anti-metabolite agent. Increased risk of lymphoproliferative disorders (LPD) in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) has been documented with the prolonged use of immunosuppressive medications such as MTX. This is thought to be the result of immune dysregulation and/or chronic immune stimulation. Most cases of LPDs regress following withdrawal of the off...

The primary cutaneous CD30-positive (CD30+) T-cell lymphoproliferative disorders are a group of largely indolent diseases that manifest as nodules or tumors of the skin. The European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) has developed a modification of the World Health Organization (WHO) lymphoma classification system that specifically categorizes these entities. According t...

Methotrexate (MTX) is an established immunomodulating agent used in low doses (LDMTX) to treat several autoimmune diseases. Ulcerative stomatitis (US) may be observed as a long-term LDMTX adverse effect showing a wide histopathologic spectrum. A 73-year old female presented with painful oral ulcers of 5 days duration. The patient had been under treatment for rheumatoid arthritis with LDMTX, whi...
